A really good watch for the price
I really like the looks of the Sea lineup (Sea Quartz, Sea Auto, SQ30 Eclipse) and wanted that "Magnum P.I." look. I have plenty of automatics so I was looking at the grab-n-go benefits of a quartz movement. When I saw the SQ30 Eclipse was the same as the Sea Quartz, but with the improvement of solar charging, it was a no-brainer; this is the watch for my purposes. The looks do not disappoint and that's what I'm most happy about. Legibility is good, and importantly the seconds hand, even without my reading glasses in the morning when I'm timing my coffee brewing, though the date is completely unreadable without my glasses. The dial is busy looking with the 'in-between' minute markings the same length as the 5-minute graduations (in contrast to the bezel which is visually a better design when it comes to the minute markings) but it's still easily readable. The orange minute hand, which doesn't match the long-lollipop minute and seconds hands, is perfect and I love a dive watch with that distinction! The bezel action is disappointing. It's much harder to turn than it should be. I would like to see that loosened up a tad. I'm hoping that it may just need a break-in period. The bracelet is a mixed bag. If you got a strap then none of the below applies to you. - Pros - 1. The jubilee-style is just so comfortable! This is my first bracelet of this kind and I can see why it's a popular style. 2. The milled clasp has 6 steps in its number of micro-adjustments and I really like that and use it. 3. Quick-release spring bars! - Cons - 1. No diver's extension. While not a deal breaker, a dive watch needs a diver's extension. If you plan on diving with this then get the one with the strap or else have a strap available. 2. The worst fold-over clasp I have ever dealt with! I literally have to smack the fold-over to lock down. I even took a Dremel and ground a bevel into the inner wings of the fold-over to help it engage with the retaining spring bar -- not easy to do with the limited space to work within -- and that only marginally helped. I have read the other reviews and no one mentions this so my guess is that I got a bad one (hey, it happens). Overall, this is good watch and I definitely recommend it.
Love the watch
Watch quality is amazing for the price, only issue I have is the Lume does not last long enough.
Near perfect
I love the overall aesthetic of the watch. Captures the spirit of the original Choronosport. The quartz “ticks” line up with almost all of the second marks, very impressed. Only complaints: 1) The bezel action is a little stiff and the polished edges make it a little harder to actuate. 2) The lume on the bezel insert could be brighter. Again, I do really enjoy the watch. Don’t think anyone would be disappointed with it!
Excellent watch
Owning already the Quartz PI version this one remains close to the original and is extremely well built
awesome watch
i would recoment this watch to everybody. a proper diving watch, with a lovely history. a good everyday tool watch as well. great finishing, great quality, bright strong lume. not just for pop culture lovers.
